So sorry to hear about your wife and your marriage. I would imagine it's nearly impossible to

stay married to someone who is a JW...there are so many conflicts at every turn. Holidays,

birthdays, children all become problems. Of course, it's futile to try and argue your point with them.

They're so convinced the have "the truth" that anything you say will only push them further into

believing you're being influenced by Satan.

My sister recently returned a few years ago. We barely speak. I don't know what to say to her as she

feels it's okay to preach to me but when I start bringing up things about the organization she gets upset

and thinks I'm trying to negatively influence her. We used to be real close. We used to talk about growing up

JW and how damaging it was. Now she wants to go back?? I just don't understand. You lost your wife.

I lost my sister AND my best friend. I will never be the same.

...i was told but they usually were as i look back.. as a lad i'd sit and look to see who the lights would fall on.

i'd get an almond and see how long i could suck it before i chewed at it.

i'd imagine playing rock'n'roll on the congregation's piano.. how did you get through the meetings when you were bored?.

I loved to write (still do) and I would note every stupid thing that came out of anyone's mouth. Needles to say,

rarely stopped writing. I collected all the sheets of paper and put them in a folder. I lost the folder years

ago..or I think when I moved out of my parents' house I left it and they did. Shame though. There were

some real good ones.

One time my older sister (who wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed) was reading from a scripture,

the one about the stars will answer in applause, and instead of applause, she said applesauce.

I got sent to the back with a right rolicking for laughing so hard.

I just got my memorial invite

well technically it is an anniversary invite/special talk invite.

the car group was just here.

i was home but hiding and my husband got the door.. i want to tell them exactly why i am not going , but i haven't got my head quite there yet.. i think i am gonna have to just decline!.

I couldn't bear it anymore. I got about 15 minutes in to when he

mentioned Wild Kingdom and Mooountain Rams. The way he stretches

his vowels out makes me want to jump out of my window here. It brought

all sorts of horrific memories back of Yankee Stadium sweltering chair

sticking summers of endless talks, disgusting food and smelly toilets.

Well, since they were still married at the time of death your wife may have a legitimate claim.

I would get a copy of the will, death certificate for the husband and get some legal

advice. Every state has different laws. Crazy...it might cost you more in the long run with legal

fees though if you do plan to fight it. Good Luck!

Was your wife divorced from him before he died or after? Because if they were divorced before all of the property

would have been sorted out in the divorce and the house would be his completely. If he died while your wife

and he were still married, it might entitle her to some equitable distribution. Other than that, you have no legal standing if

the divorce were final and his will executed after a divorce because in order to finalize a divorce, all parties

have to agree to the distribution of the assets.

That's the general law here in PA. (I'm a law student, btw.) That will be $40 :)
